NT-proBNP is an inactive N-terminal fragment of BNP prohormone (pro-BNP), which is mainly secreted by cardiomyocytes of the left ventricle and is secreted when subjected to volume load and pressure load. NT-proBNP can be used to evaluate cardiac systolic and diastolic dysfunction and ventricular wall segmental motor coordination with high sensitivity and negative predictive value. It can also be used to detect early heart failure (HF) patients, conduct risk stratification, monitor the efficacy evaluation of heart failure drugs, determine the prognosis of heart failure patients, distinguish between heart failure and other causes of dyspnea, and is acute heart failure. Routine examination, its high negative can accurately exclude heart failure, and can also be used as a risk assessment indicator for acute coronary syndrome (ACS).
